The Offer

Our business model, borrowed from other successful community pubs, will be to appoint an entrepreneurial tenant under a favourable, free-house lease. The lease terms will incentivise the tenant to ensure the needs of the local community are met and allow the pub to be at the heart of our community, whilst being flexible enough to allow the business to expand to meet its full potential.

We would like our tenant to:

  • relocate to live in our community.

  • have the ambition for the Waldegrave Arms to become an integral, vibrant part of village life.

  • be a warm, welcoming and inclusive landlord that will actively promote community cohesion.

What our Community Benefit Society would like to do for our tenant:

  • Provide a free-of-tie tenancy

  • Be a responsible landlord investing in the fabric of the building for the long term

  • Provide on-site accommodation for you to relocate into our community

  • Be a potential source of capital to fund improvements to the pub

By working together, we plan to strengthen the heart of this village with a business that supports the local economy, enhances village life, and helps alleviate growing social  loneliness and isolation. And we will support that business to reach its full potential to ensure its sustainability into the future.

Successful initial applicants will be asked to complete a business plan (template will be provided) and may be asked to attend an interview. Viewings can be arranged following a successful initial application.
